If you need to see a specialist, your provider will refer you to one whom they know and trust will provide you with excellent care, but we cannot guarantee that they are in your insurance plan. Make sure you know your insurance plan’s referral requirements and any specific restrictions.

How long will it take?
If your referral is for an urgent medical situation, it will be processed right away. An urgent situation is one that would cause significant bodily harm if not processed immediately. All non-urgent referrals are processed and mailed to you within 5 business days. Our referral coordinator will contact you if there are any questions or concerns. Please try not to call to check on your referral until 5 days have passed; we’re working on it!
Please note that some insurance plans require a 5-7 day authorization period after we’ve contacted them for certain referrals such as: nutrition counseling, sleep studies, infertility, hemodialysis, outpatient infusion, hyperbaric oxygen, ongoing referrals involving a case worker, or those involving a non-participating (not covered by your insurance) facility.
Once you have your referral approved, schedule your appointment with the specialist. Remember to bring the referral with you to this appointment!
