General Internal Medicine welcomes three new Certified Physician Assistants to our practice.
Jenna Humphreys PA-C and Rachel Spiotto PA-C are seeing patients in our Ballston office. Kristen Burns PA-C is seeing patients in our Fairfax Office. They all have early AM and evening hours to better serve our patient needs. We are happy to have these new practitioners on our GIMG team! Please see their bios in the "Our Providers" section.
GIMG sadly says goodbye to Genvieve Thomas PA-C and Zane Kirby PA-C who are moving out of the area.
COMING SOON! Gopi Masalia, M.D. will be joining GIMG this spring in the Ballston office. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Fola Oluwehinmi ( we call him Dr. Fola) will be joining our Fairfax office this summer. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Look for more information on them soon!
- Arthur A. Rubin, MD
- Dr. Arthur A. Rubin, a New Jersey native, attended the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Georgetown Medical School and then studied psychiatry for 18 months at Georgetown University Hospital before going on to an internal medicine residency. After becoming board-certified, Dr. Rubin worked for a California HMO as an internal medicine consultant. Being an Easterner at heart, Dr. Rubin returned to Virginia and opened an internal medicine practice in 1978. He and Dr. Major became associates and moved to our Arlington location in 1983. Dr. Rubin has been President of the Virginia Society of Internal Medicine and the Northern Virginia Academy of Medicine and a former board member of the Medical Society of Virginia Peer Review Organization. Dr. Rubin has been an advisor, speaker and consultant to Blue Cross/Blue Shield Health Plans, HCFA seminars, and hospital systems on issues of quality care and utilization of medical services. He was a founder and medical director of NCPPO, a local health plan. Dr. rubin also founded and acts as managing director of MDxL, a local hospitalist physician management company. Dr. Rubin is married to Beth York, a lawyer specializing in estates and trusts planning, and has two daughters, Margaret and Amy. Dr. Rubin resides in McLean and hobbies include traveling, skiing, reading, and softball.

- Brickte L. DeBass, MD
- Dr. Brickte DeBass is a board-certified internist. She grew up in College Park, Maryland, and received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Maryland. She then moved north to tranquil and chocolaty Hershey, PA, where she completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Penn State University Medical Center. Dr. DeBass moved to Arlington in 1998 and worked for Internal Medicine Associates until joining our practice in August 2001 in the Fairfax office; she moved to our Arlington office in May 2006. She enjoys yoga, arts and crafts, movies, and interesting restaurants.

- Mary J. Major, MD
- Dr. Mary Jane Major is a board-certified internist. She was born in Connecticut and attended Barnard College in New York City and Albany Medical College. Dr. Major completed her training in internal medicine at George Washington University and practiced at the Falls Church Medical Center for three years until she ran into Dr. Rubin, and it's been downhill (or uphill?) ever since. She has two children, Jeffrey and Lindsey, and resides in Arlington.

- Nina Selvaggi, MD
- Dr. Nina Selvaggi is an endocrinologist and board-certified internist. Born and raised in New York City, she graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She spent several years on the McGill faculty as a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Endocrinology prior to moving to the Washington area in 1989. Her many interests include marine biology, languages, and the performing and fine arts. She has no regrets at all about having left Montreal's invigorating cold for Washington's "balmy" weather. Dr. Selvaggi joined our practice in January 1989. She spends her spare time (ha! ha!) with a houseful of standard poodles (the BIG ones!) Dr. Selvaggi also speaks fluent French.

- Gary R. Fender, MD
- Dr. Gary R. Fender joined our group in October 1990. He grew up in northern New Jersey and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Boston University. He attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School, graduating in 1979. He remained in the Washington area after completing his postgraduate training in internal medicine at George Washington University. Dr. Fender was board-certified in internal medicine in 1982 and has practiced in Northern Virginia since July 1982, first in affiliation with the Anderson Clinic in Arlington and after September 1984 with another medical group in Arlington and Springfield. He has a special interest in preventive medicine.
